ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Sicanja Museum is an original project that presents the Sicanja tradition through contemporary design. In addition to educational content, it also provides an experiential experience and acts as a lifestyle brand through its own products.
The project emerged from authorial research at the University of Algebra's design studio and developed into the Museum of Sicanja project, which is currently in development.
MARKET RESEARCH
In contemporary culture, there is a growing interest in traditional motifs and tattoos, which are increasingly appearing in fashion, design and popular culture. Although sicanja is often written about in online sources, the topic does not have a comprehensive institutional presentation, so information about sicanja often remains fragmentary or misinterpreted. In order to examine the relationship between public interest and the level of information about this tradition, a survey was conducted among the target audience:
37,1 %
respondents have never heard of sicanje
54,3 %
respondents believe that he knows very little about the topic.
74,3 %
respondents believe that the topic is not sufficiently represented in culture
MUSEUM CONCEPT
In response to this context, the concept of a mobile pop-up museum — the Museum of Sicanje — was developed, which comprehensively presents the tradition of sicanje through multimedia and contemporary design in one place.
This is the first project that systematically interprets and presents the craft to a wider audience, and in addition to the exhibition, it also includes its own branded products.
POP-UP MUSEUM
Thanks to its modular construction, the Museum of Sicanje can be dismantled, transported and reassembled in different cities.
The Museum of Sicanje presents the development of the symbolism and tradition of sicanje, giving it a new, contemporary meaning.
VISUAL IDENTITY
The visual identity of the project is inspired by traditional carving ornaments, reinterpreted through contemporary design.
