ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Museum of Sicanje is an authorial project that presents the tradition of sicanje through contemporary design. In addition to educational content, it offers an experiential dimension and functions as a lifestyle brand through its own products.
The Museum of Sicanje is a project that originated from independent research conducted as part of studies in Visual Communications Design at Algebra Bernays University and is currently in development.
MARKET RESEARCH
In contemporary culture, there is a growing interest in traditional motifs and tattooing, which are increasingly present in fashion, design, and popular culture. Although sicanje is often discussed in online sources, the topic lacks a comprehensive institutional presentation, and information about sicanje therefore often remains fragmented or misinterpreted. To examine the relationship between public interest and the level of awareness of this tradition, a survey was conducted among the target audience:
37,1 %
of respondents have never heard of sicanje.
54,3 %
say they know very little about the topic.
74,3 %
believe that it is not sufficiently represented in culture.
MUSEUM CONCEPT
In response to this context, the concept of a mobile pop-up museum—the Museum of Sicanje—was developed, bringing together a comprehensive presentation of the tradition of sicanje through multimedia and contemporary design.
This is the first project to systematically interpret and present sicanje to a wider audience, and in addition to the exhibition, it also includes its own branded products.
POP-UP MUSEUM
Thanks to its modular construction, the Museum of Sicanje can be dismantled, transported and reassembled in different cities.
The Museum of Sicanje presents the development of the symbolism and tradition of sicanje, giving it a new, contemporary meaning.
VISUAL IDENTITY
The visual identity of the project is inspired by traditional sicanje ornaments, reinterpreted through contemporary design.
